Softly and Tenderly
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling
Softly and tenderly, not harshly ~ full of disgust and condemnation that I still don't have it right
Calling for you and for me
Jesus wants everyone ~ EVERYONE ~ just as we are
See on the portals He's waiting and watching
Jesus is waiting for me ~ He's watching for me
Watching for you and for me
With arms open wide, He stands at the doorway ready to embrace our aching hearts
Come home, Come home
Home ~ surrendering and falling into Your outstretched arms ~ resting in Your grace
Ye who are weary come home.
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, Oh, sinner, come home
Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading
Pleading for you and for me
Jesus, I don't want to wait any longer to embrace the intensely overwhelming love You have for me
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies
Mercies for you and for me
I don't want to stay where I am ~ I want to live in the freedom of Your mercies. Do I deserve Your goodness, NO, but Your divine love draws me to Your tender embrace.
Come home, Come home
Ye who are weary come home.
Oh, Father, I am so weary. Weary of trying to figure out things on my own, Weary of trying to fix things that aren't mine to fix. Weary of not letting You have Your way in my life. Weary of hanging on to anger, bitterness, and resentment. God, I'm ready to come home ~ to surrender and fall into Your arms of love and experience the sweetness of Your healing grace.
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, Oh, sinner, come home
Oh for the wonderful love He has promised
Promised for you and for me
God, I've looked at You wrong my whole life. You're not disgusted with me because I can't get it right. You love me despite my sins. You love me enough that You are patiently waiting for me to stop doing things my way and to truly mean "Not my will, but Yours be done."
Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon
Pardon for you and for me
God, help me to know in my heart that Your mercy and pardon are not just for me ~ Your grace is for everyone, even those who have wronged me.
Come home, Come home
Ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, Oh, sinner, come home
Jesus, You don't give up on me ~ no matter how much I fight you.
Jesus, I'm coming home to Your outstretched arms full of love ~
Close your eyes, listen to these words, sit with Jesus, and come home to Your Savior ~ let Him love you
Beautiful comments and prayers on a beautiful song. Thanks for pointing my eyes to Jesus.
May these words help us to know the Father’s love for us!
Thanks for the reminder that Jesus is softly, tenderly, patiently calling and waiting…
He’s not hollering like my kids or spouse, not giving directives like my employer, not clamoring like other people and things in my life. He’s softly, tenderly, patiently calling and waiting for me to listen, to notice, to accept. A lovely reminder for me today. Thank you.
Meeting Him in the quiet –
This song had always been a favorite. The lyrics are so rich and you unpacked them beautifully.
Very rich – love that!
