Holy Cow, What a Mess
Seriously ~ what a mess!
While this may look like a hot mess, this was the garden of 2021. I am well aware that it totally looks like nothing but a weed patch; however, over 500 jars/freezer bags were harvested off this little piece of dirt that year. (Nerd Alert: I keep a canning spreadsheet) We even grew several first time goodies like kale, Brussel sprouts, carrots, and black-eye peas (for humus).
Every year we start out planting the garden in weedless, crooked rows with the intention of keeping out all unwanted vegetation. And every year it always seems that good intentions go astray as other responsibilities keep us from maintaining that picture perfect plot.
Do you ever start out with good intentions and then find yourself in a weedy mess? Have you made mistakes that you feel are choking out any good you may potentially have? Do you feel like you've gone too far and will never amount to anything?
God's Goodness
Believe
He is able
I look at this picture and realize God's goodness. It so depicts our lives. We are truly a jumbled picture of disarray whether we want to accept that fact or not. The daily grind and sometimes our life choices have created turmoil that often seems impossible to overcome. Thankfully, our gracious Father can see the good fruit in our hearts in spite of the weeds!
So often we look at our utter chaos and think there is no hope - we're too far gone. If I can harvest delicious produce from this tangled up patch of weeds - we have to believe that our Mighty God is able to do the same in our lives.
There will never be perfect this side of Heaven, so we have to continually seek Holy God's face to make any kind of sense of this hard we are in the middle of. He is able, my friends - He is able. Do not lose hope, but trust in the Master Gardener's touch. He wants to use the matted up jungles we've created for His Kingdom and His glory!
What I love about the NKJV of this passage is the verb "works". Using this present tense verb signifies that an action is currently happening or being performed on a regular basis. God's power is working this very minute! His power is habitually working in our lives - never stopping, unending. Oh my, the goodness of our Father Who is able.
We CANNOT give up! We don't have to give in to wrong behaviors, to temptations; but we must continually bring them to the throne of the One Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly more.
In the Mighty Name of Jesus, may we not let the weeds stop us from seeking a harvest. . .
HE is able - don't look at the mess or the chaos around you - look to the power above you. HE is able, He is so able! To You be the glory!
Love this! Thanks for sharing this bit of your life and your heart.
