What am I Missing, God

The last couple of months have been a time of searching God's heart for where He's leading me in this Grace Filled Journey

One of my questions became, what am I missing, God? What do you want to do with my heart? What's missing . . .

Have you even been in that mode where nothing is wrong, but there is nothing to write home about either? You're living life, but just have the deep down sinking feeling that you're missing the boat. You're doing well, but in your heart you know there's more.

That's been where I've been, wrestling with the nagging question, WHAT AM I MISSING . . .

The answer that God has given me is: prayerWhat you're missing, right now, in this moment, is how to talk to Me; how to have a constant relationship with Me; how to not leave Me at your desk and go about your day without Me; how to reach for Me before you ever think of anyone or anything else - prayer . . .

Whoa, hold on a minute. Excuse me, I do pray. God, people have even called me a prayer warrior and You're saying what I'm missing in my life is prayer?

Then, I started thinking about my prayer life:

  • am I praying or planning wise words that will whip the world into shape
  • am I praying or plotting how to avoid people or situations that are too difficult
  • am I praying or presenting my well-thought out solutions to the Creator of the Universe as to how to fix all that is wrong
  • am I praying or performing a task so that I can check it off my to-do list

Where is my heart? Ok, I'm listening -

In all of this, God's voice is not raised, It is not stern, It is not angry. His voice is tender, gentle, and loving. It's like we're getting ready to go on the vacation of a lifetime - a memorable trip where the sights and memories will forever be etched on my heart. He's taking me on a journey where I will learn how to have an intimate relationship with Him where He becomes all that I need or want.

We know prayer is talking with God. But do we fully understand what "talking" means. According to Merriam Webster talking involves sharing thoughts, ideas, feelings, etc. It's an intimate relationship where all involved are so vested that nothing else is as important as that moment where two or more people are doing life together.

Does that currently describe my "prayer" time with Abba? No, but God is inviting me work on it with arms full of love and grace!

For the [remarkable, undeserved] grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.  It teaches us to reject ungodliness and worldly (immoral) desires, and to live sensible, upright, and godly lives [lives with a purpose that reflect spiritual maturity] in this present age,

Friends, at times we're going to be missing something, but KNOW THIS: God is not in Heaven with His arms crossed and His head shaking at us in disappointment. He's waiting for us to approach the throne of grace and find mercy . Through His grace we will receive His mercy to fill whatever is missing in our empty hearts. He wants to teach me about prayer, ask Him what your soul needs, He'll show you ~
