Progress not Perfection – Two Powerful Words
Power of Two Words
Don't you sometimes have to laugh at God. I seriously was annoyed by the words "Progress not Perfection" and here He has used those very words to do some real heart transformation in me! Realizing the necessity of letting go of perfection and embracing His grace filled progression in my life has given me a freedom to embrace the blessings God is giving me in the here and now.
Do you think that two words really don't amount to much. Ponder on the difference between these two 2-word phrases:
I can't
I can
Seriously life changing - depending on the two words you choose to live by
Two Scriptures
So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
Romans 8:6 NLT
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:1
God has given each of us the freedom to choose what controls our thoughts. Those choices lead to either life and peace or burden us.
Yes, we can ask for strength.
Yes, God is all-powerful.
Yes, the Holy Spirit enables us.
Ultimately, we have to give the reins to Adonai and allow Him to have His way.
How? By saying (out loud if necessary) two life changing words.
Two Words - I CHOOSE
God, I LOVE this lasagna, homemade bread, (insert your love) and I want to keep eating until I'm sick, but I CHOOSE to not make food (or whatever your idol might be) my idol.
God, _____________ is so difficult for me to be around - their stinging words cut me to the core, but I CHOOSE to allow You to show me how to love with grace filled boundaries. Father, I CHOOSE to forgive with the grace You give me.
Oh, my God, this situation is NOT where I want to be. The grueling pain and heartbreak I cannot bear anymore, but I CHOOSE to believe that Your grace is sufficient for me as we walk together to the other side.
In one of Jesus' realest displays of humanity in the Garden of Gethsemane, (Luke 22) He surrendered His will to His Father's and said I CHOOSE Your path.
And He was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from Me: nevertheless not My will, but Thine, be done.
And there appeared an angel unto Him from heaven, strengthening Him.
Luke 22:41-43 KJV
Know what I love about this passage, verse 43:
And there appeared an angel unto Him from heaven, strengthening Him
Here's the deal, no matter the road of progress we're on - be it overcoming a bad habit, forgiveness, or growing in our faith through painful circumstances, God Almighty sends us exactly what we need. But we need to be in a position to receive His help by saying I CHOOSE to do things Your way and not my own.
Scripture tells us that Christ has set us free and we have to choose to not be imprisoned again so that we are led to life and peace. When we surrender our mind choices to our Father, He takes the mess and molds it into good for His glory - we have to continually choose His way, by His Spirit.
Friends, saying the words I CHOOSE leads to surrender which leads to life and peace because God is perfecting the imperfect ~
Oh my…..this one is the most impactful one yet….so much here to absorb and in so few words. I’m going to read this over and over until it sinks in. Thank you.♥️????????
